Everett had its beginings as a vision for an industrial city. It was founded by the Everett Land Company and was incorporated officially in 1893. That same year the Great Northern Railway buit its way through the new town. The Everett Land Company was a failure, however its founders continued on becoming pillars in the community. Everett did succeed in drawing mining, sawmills, chandlery and port services.

Boeing built the worlds largest building by volume in Everett to assemble wide body aircraft. Among the notable commercial planes are the 747, 767, 777 and the new 787 Dreamliner. The US Navy maintains Naval Station Everett where the Supercarrier USS Abaraham Lincoln is based.
